Frequently asked questions
Deployment, pricing, research sources, contract playbooks, and data privacy for AILexSys.
What sources does legal research search?+
AILexSys searches Hong Kong e-Legislation, Judiciary case law, your uploaded matter documents, and the built-in clause library. You can filter by source type so answers draw on the authorities relevant to your question.
Can I limit research to one matter's documents?+
Yes. Document scoping lets you narrow retrieval to selected uploads for a specific matter, so associates working on one client file do not pull chunks from unrelated work.
How are citations verified?+
Answers include links to source text. The citation auditor cross-checks cited cases and statutes against authoritative databases so weak or missing authority is flagged before output reaches a client-facing deliverable.
Where does my data live? Can we deploy on-premise?+
You choose the deployment model. On-premise: a licensed appliance runs inference, storage, and retrieval on your firm's network. Cloud: AILexSys hosts the workspace with a built-in AI API billed by token usage.
How does cloud pricing work?+
The cloud version includes a built-in AI API — no separate model-provider keys required. Usage is billed by token consumption, so you pay for what your team actually uses.
When should we choose on-premise over cloud?+
Firms with air-gap requirements, strict client confidentiality policies, or regulatory mandates for local inference typically choose the on-premise appliance. Cloud suits teams that want fast setup without managing hardware.
Which jurisdictions are supported?+
Research and review can be filtered by Hong Kong, Singapore, UK, and US law. Hong Kong firms benefit from native Hong Kong Judiciary and e-Legislation integration. Singapore and UK filtering is available at the workspace level; dedicated jurisdiction landing pages for SG and UK are coming as we expand localized content.
What is a contract review playbook?+
A playbook is a structured set of review guidelines your firm defines — risk tolerance, negotiation positions, and pass/warn/fail criteria. The AI runs a contract against the selected playbook and returns findings with quoted contract language.
How does playbook versioning work?+
You can create versions from a parent playbook and mark one version as the live firm standard. Archived versions stay available for audit without deleting prior work.
Is AILexSys legal advice?+
No. AILexSys provides general information and research assistance only. Outputs may be incomplete or incorrect. Lawyers must verify citations and conclusions against primary sources and exercise professional judgment before relying on any output in client work.
What file types can I upload?+
Contracts and reference documents are typically uploaded as PDF or Word files. The workspace indexes content so it can be searched and cited in later answers.
How do ethical walls and matter isolation work?+
Workspaces are scoped to firm and matter. Conflict groups and access controls align with how you segregate client work, so associates on Matter A cannot retrieve documents from Matter B.
